Roy Keane has lambasted Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim for placing new signing Patrick Dorgu on the right wing-back position during his debut match. Keane expressed his disappointment on ITV's coverage, stating that the decision lacked belief and confidence, and questioned whether it was fair to the players. Dorgu was subsequently substituted at halftime. Amorim defended his choice, highlighting Dorgu's versatility and experience playing on both flanks.

Roy Keane , the former Manchester United captain turned television pundit, has criticized Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim for his decision to deploy new signing Patrick Dorgu as a right wing-back on his debut. Dorgu, a young Danish talent who recently joined from Lecce in a deal worth an initial £25.2 million plus £4.2 million in add-ons, was widely expected to address United's left wing-back deficiencies.

However, the starting lineup revealed a surprise: Dorgu was positioned on the right flank, a choice that drew immediate criticism from Keane during ITV's coverage of the match. Keane expressed his disappointment, stating, 'There is a lack of belief, lack of confidence. They've brought new players in and you're thinking he's going to play in his position and he's playing right wing-back. 'You think, is that unfair on players? And you look at the urgency for the goal , it's given away cheaply, people not staying with their runners. I just look at it from United's point of view and think, my goodness, is this what it's come to?' Adding to the controversy, Dorgu was substituted at halftime, shortly after Keane's outspoken remarks. However, the introduction of Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee, who scored the equalizing goal, proved pivotal in turning the game around. The match culminated in a controversial late winner from Harry Maguire.Post-match, Amorim defended his unconventional use of Dorgu, emphasizing his versatility. He stated, 'He played a lot of times for Lecce on the right and the left. 'That's one of the characteristics we pay a lot of attention to. He was a little bit anxious with the first touch of the ball. This is a different league for him, different speed of the game but he did well. He has pace, he has strength and he's going to improve a lot. We, as a team, need to play better to help the new guy perform at the right level. 'If you have seen the history of Dorgu, for his last team he played a lot of games on the right, and we have to have wingers who can play both sides like Dalot. So I think it is a really important thing because sometimes you need a left foot on the right side to come in and connect in a different way and sometimes you need a right foot to connect and cross more balls.
