Keir Starmer today avoided repeating his vow for the UK to have the fastest growth in the G7 during Prime Minister's Questions (PMQs) clashes. He was challenged over the pledge by Kemi Badenoch in the Commons. Starmer pointed to a new OECD report which he claimed had 'upgraded' the UK's growth forecasts. However, Badenoch replied that Starmer couldn't even repeat his pledges made a few weeks ago. She also noted that the OECD warned the government will need to raise more taxes.
This followed Chancellor Rachel Reeves' earlier statement about no further tax rises in this Parliament, which she has since backtracked on.
