EXCLUSIVE: Brown signed off an email as 'Westminster Campaign Director' as recently as last month before the job was given to a veteran SNP MP.

Labour has accused the SNP of sacking Keith Brown as its general election campaign director after he suggested the party's MPs should withdraw from Westminster.

The party veteran later prompted outrage among Nationalists MPs when he suggested they could withdraw from the House of Commons. But the email to members last month made no mention of Brown's role being temporary - and the party made no reference to the MSP when Hosie's new role was announced yesterday.Ian Murray, Labour's Shadow Scottish Secretary, said Brown's departure was proof the SNP's Westminster campaign was stuttering.

“At the general election, Scots can kick the Tories out of office, and help deliver the change Scotland needs by voting Labour." Hosie is the second-longest serving SNP MP, having been elected in 2005. He announced in June that he would not be seeking re-election.
