Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Man City will be “quiet” on a potential European Super League comeback until their Premier League financial charges case is resolved., the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the English champions will not give any clubs a reason to “point the finger at them” any further.
Man City – along with Man United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea – were part of the original proposal in 2021 which was thwarted by fans. But City have since been embroiled in a financial charges fight with the Premier League which could see them hit with severe punishments if found guilty.“The sanctions put in place by the Premier League after the Super League venture included a fine as well as a 30-point deduction for any club who try it again.
