Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness believes it was “really poor” for Sir Jim Ratcliffe to make a joke about Manchester United defender Luke Shaw in the build-up to the European Championships final., the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the Man United chief made himself look “silly” following his message to the left-back.
The 29-year-old started the game in Berlin, but he was unable to help prevent his side from falling to a 2-1 defeat.Wyness insisted Ratcliffe throwing out ad-hoc soundbites is not the way forward and suggested he has some lessons to learn.“I didn’t see any other owners saying anything like that. Rather than just saying ‘Good luck, hope you do well’, he said ‘Don’t pull your hamstring’.
