Kendall County officials have issued a disaster declaration ahead of the upcoming Total Eclipse to ensure sufficient resources are available in case of an emergency. The declaration allows them to seek additional resources from the state as they anticipate a large influx of visitors to the area. Kerr County has also made a similar declaration, requesting fuel, drinking water, and medical supplies.
With the Total Eclipse less than a month away, Kendall County is the latest to issue a disaster declaration . Issuing a disaster declaration ahead of next month’s eclipse is a proactive measure Kendall County officials are taking to make sure enough resources are available in case of an emergency.
“We’re not going to be able to rely on our regular mutual aid partners because they’re coming from counties that are experiencing the same issues we are, so it just gives us a little bit better advantage having to reach out for the state for additional resources or supplies or things like that should we need them,” said Jeff Fincke, Emergency Management Coordinator for Kendall County.“They’re projecting hundreds of thousands of people possibly coming to the hill country.
