KENT, Ohio - A Kent middle school student with a “to kill list” was charged and taken into custody, police confirmed.
KPD said officers were sent to Stanton Middle School at 1175 Hudson Rd. on April 25 for the reported school threat. Ofc. Poe, who was the primary officer on the call, conducted a thorough investigation that determined the student “did in fact have a list,” KPD stated. Poe collaborated with Kent City Schools staff and the Portage County Prosecutor’s Office to sign a charge of making false alarms, said KPD.KPD credited Lt. Lewis with working with school staff on public messaging, and Juvenile Counselor Watkins for assisting school staff with appropriately notifying all students and parents impacted by this threat.
