Kent police arrested a 14-year-old boy Friday for DUI and eluding after they noticed he was drifting while driving.
A Kent patrol officer was working a DUI and distracted driving emphasis when they noticed a vehicle failing to stop at a stop sign on W Meeker Street.
The officer activated his sirens to get the driver’s attention, but he did not stop. As the driver rounded a corner, he hit the sidewalk and ran another red light. Even after losing a tire, the driver did not stop. According to police, other officers responded to the incident to provide additional assistance. They arrived just as the driver was fleeing.
The King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian 1 helicopter said that they were able to see the teen jumping fences and trying to hide in a top-opening freezer in someone's backyard.
