No. 3 Kent State has advanced to the Mid-American Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament championship game for the first time since 2006.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Golden Flashes punched their ticket to the championship with a 65-50 semifinal victory over No. 2 Ball State at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Friday.
Bridget Dunn and Katie Shumate led the way for Kent State with a pair of double-doubles. Dunn scored a game-high 16 points and shot 6-7 from the field and 3-4 from deep. While Shumate finished with 12 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. The Flashes controlled the boards, with a 50-23 rebounding advantage over Ball State. In addition to the boards, the Flashes also dominated in the paint, outscoring Ball State 44-16.
Kent State will play No. 4 seed Buffalo in the championship game Saturday at 11 a.m. on CBS Sports Network.
