Kettering's James Acaster is among the favourites to host the Great British Bake Off . And it wouldn't be his his first time in the tent , after the Northamptonshire comedian famously appeared onThe Great Celebrity Bake Off for SU2C back in 2019.
In the search for a replacement, Acaster is currently 10/1 with Betfair and fourth favourite. Among the other contenders are Richard Ayoade at 7/2, Joe Lycett at 9/2 while former contestant Nadiya Hussain is placed at 7/1 according to GoodToKnow.Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said, “Joe Lycett presented three series of The Great British Sewing Bee and is 9/2 to swap needles for kneading and replace the outgoing Matt Lucas as a presenter on The Great British Bake Off.
Acaster memorably was on the celebrity version of the show in 2019 but said he was "jet-lagged” while appearing on it. The comedian admitted his hilarious participation in the programme was “the worst day of his life", as he had never had baked before. The comedian, who is known for his quirky stand-up and has four comedy specials on Netflix, was not the biggest name on the series at the time. However, he certainly went down as one of the funniest with his dry humour and self-deprecating remarks.
