Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested and charged with allegedly assaulting his girlfriend Monday.
a 911 call was placed from the Millennium Hilton Hotel at 6:45 a.m. Monday. When officers arrived, the woman was at the location with lacerations to her face. EMS transported the woman to an area hospital in stable condition.the league is aware of the arrest reports, has been in contact with the Rockets and is “in the process of gathering more information.”
When asked for comment, the organization said it is “in the process of gathering information surrounding the matter involving Kevin Porter Jr. We have no further comment at this time.” Porter, a 2019 first-round pick, has played with Houston the past three seasons after being traded from. The Rockets re-signed the 23-year-old to a four-year, $82.5 million extension in October.
With the Cavaliers, Porter was suspended as a rookie for making contact with a game official and then started the 2020-21 season inactive after being arrested in the offseason. The arrest came after Porter was involved in a one-car accident. Porter was charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, failure to control the vehicle and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
