Inquests have been opened into the deaths of Elaine and Philip Marco who died after their car became trapped in a flooded area of road
A coroner has said that "questions will need to be answered" as he opened the inquests into the deaths of a married couple who died after their car became submerged in a flooded Liverpool road.
Today senior coroner Andre Rebello made it clear that any future inquest and the ongoing police investigation will be asking crucial questions of a number of authorities and organisations in order to establish the truth of what happened. He added: "Clearly there will be investigations in regard to the history of the road and lessons learned from previous experiences, particularly in terms of residents in the area."
Mr Rebello today confirmed that yesterday he released the bodies of the much-loved couple, who were well known in Liverpool's Jewish community, so that they can be buried later today .
