As things stand, there are two managerial vacancies in Ulster - Derry and Monaghan - with Kieran Donnelly reappointed as Fermanagh boss earlier this week
Another inter-county football managerial reappointment has taken place as the pieces in the jigsaw continue to fall into place.
The lifespan of an inter-county manager appears to be three years max for the vast majority - and close to two seasons - judging by a lot of this year’s comings and goings. Of the other managers who have left this summer, Niall Carew is the exception to the rule, guiding Carlow for five seasons, while Mickey Harte and Paul Kelly left after one season in charge.
McGeeney is out on his own following Colm Collins’ resignation as Clare boss after a decade, at the end of the 2023 season. If he completes his latest term it will see him as one of the longest serving inter-county football managers in the country.
