The Push: Murder on the Cliff will look at the tragedy and the trial that followed
Kashif Anwar pushed his pregnant wife, Fawziyah Javed, off Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh on September 2021 days before she was set to leave him.
He pushed her from the hill, causing her multiple blunt force injuries and ultimately her death. Ms Javed used her dying words to reveal that it was her abusive husband who caused her to fall around 50ft down the hillside. Daniyah Rafique, 24, managed to reach Ms Javed as she lay dying on the side of the landmark, where she was told: "Don't let my husband near me, he pushed me."
Alex Prentice KC told the court Ms Javed, who was 17 weeks pregnant at the time, suffered fatal blunt force injuries and had used her dying words to bravely tell witnesses she had been pushed. Anwar denied responsibility but was found guilty of murder, before being sentenced straight away.
