The jury failed to reach a verdict on six charges of attempted murder against five babies - Letby is already serving a whole life order in prison
Serial killer Lucy Letby is set to find out today whether she will face a retrial on allegations she attacked babies.was found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder a further six while working at the Countess of Chester last month.
None of the victims nor their families can be identified after they were granted an unprecedented court order giving them anonymity for life. The jury were unable to reach a verdict on six charges of attempted murder against five babies, Child H, Child J, Child K, Child N and Child Q. Factors that will be considered include the likelihood of a future jury reaching a verdict, the public interest of a retrial, the interests of the victims and any views expressed by the judge Justice Goss.
Lead detective Paul Hughes says it is possible she will face further charges and has committed to investigating the “full footprint” of Letby’s nursing career at both Liverpool Women’s Hospital and the Countess of Chester.
