A wind warning has been issued for this weekend.
Kilmarnock 's pantomime is under threat as a stormy weather front looks set to batter Ayrshire this weekend.A decision on whether performances of Goldilocks and the Three Bears will go ahead will be made tomorrow morning.
This year's pantomime is taking place at a circus tent at Ayrshire Athletics Arena. Severe winds could reach 70mph in some parts of Scotland and East Ayrshire Leisure say it would be unsafe to open the venue if the weather is as bad as predicted. A statement from East Ayrshire Leisure reads: "We are writing to advise our customers that the Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for high winds for this Saturday and Sunday. At this point panto is still going ahead. We are carefully monitoring the situation as the last thing we want to do is cancel and disappoint everyone, however the safety of all our customers is of paramount importance and if the wind is as severe as predicted it would be unsafe for us to open the venue.
"A decision will be made first thing on Saturday morning following Met Office guidance and you will be informed via email of the outcome. Please keep an eye out for this notification and on our social media platforms and website. We appreciate that this will cause inconvenience to many and we sincerely hope that the show will go on – thank you for your patience and understanding.
"This has the potential to cause delays to public transport and some disruption to the road network, which may have a greater than usual impact given the busier pre-Christmas weekend travel. Dangerous coastal conditions can be expected too, with large waves an additional hazard."
