Marley Watkins reckons he has at least one thing in common with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
No, the Kilmarnock striker might not have plied his trade for the likes of Ajax, Barcelona, Manchester United and AC Milan. Or bagged himself 12 league titles and 62 goals on the international stage.
Watkins is Killie’s top scorer this term and has already tied his career best tally of 10 in a campaign - a figure he reached for Barnsley in 2016/17. He said: “That thing about being past it at 30 is a myth - I want to get more goals and believe I should be on more. We’re a good team and we work for each other. I just want to win, to be honest.
He added: “You want to contribute as much as possible. It helps the team if you’re scoring and that’s the main thing - winning games and finishing as high as we can. I want to do something special here with a great bunch of people.”
