Kim Jong-Un has been spotted looking pleased with himself during North Korea’s latest missile test. State media says the nation has successfully tested a new system which will allow it to more effectively launch nuclear missiles at the US.
Following the launch, Kim said ‘another new-type of strategic weapon would be made in the shortest span of time’.
Ankit Panda, an expert with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said: ‘We’d been expecting a test of this kind for a while. Large-diameter solid propellant rocket motors will enable North Korea to deploy larger submarine-launched missiles and, more importantly, more survivable and responsive intercontinental-range ballistic missiles.
‘The bigger picture is that North Korea’s literally turning into a prominent operator of large-scale missile forces.’ North Korea has been carrying out a large number of nuclear teats this year, despite nurmoerous international bans and widespread criticism
