Irish crime syndicate, the Kinahan Cartel, is revealed to be behind escalating gang violence in Edinburgh, Scotland. The cartel's Scottish associates are linked to cocaine trafficking and violent clashes between rival gangs.
The Dubai-based Kinahan Cartel has been exposed as the driving force behind the escalating gang warfare plaguing Edinburgh . A string of firebomb attacks and shootings has left residents of the capital city living in fear as rival gangs clash over a stolen shipment of cocaine worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. Mark Richardson's crew has been fingered as the culprits, and properties linked to the gangster have been under relentless assault over the past few weeks.
The connection to the Dubai-based Kinahan crime operation stems from their Scottish associates, including Steven Lyons and Steven Jamieson. Christy Kinahan, the patriarch of the notorious crime syndicate, established his criminal enterprise on the streets of Dublin in the 1980s, controlling a network of low-level dealers. 67-year-old Christy served two prison sentences for heroin possession and handling stolen checks but used his time behind bars to pursue education, reportedly earning two degrees. Upon release in the early 2000s, he relocated to Europe and infiltrated the international drug trafficking world, forging connections with Colombian and Russian gangsters. His gang became embroiled in a deadly feud with another Irish crime faction, the Hutch gang, which is believed to have resulted in 18 murders.Daniel Kinahan, Christy's eldest son and believed to be the current head of day-to-day operations, fled Ireland after an assassination attempt at a boxing event and is believed to be residing in Dubai. He is a co-founder of MTK Global, a boxing management company that represents over 300 boxers, including high-profile names like Tyson Fury and Billy Joe Saunders. His second-in-command is his younger brother, Christopher Kinahan Junior. The Lyons crime gang is closely allied with the Kinahan Cartel. Steven Lyons forged a strong bond with Daniel Kinahan as his crew in Scotland battled against the feared Daniels family. Currently, the Lyons mob is believed to be attempting to dominate Edinburgh's drug scene while Mark Richardson is incarcerated, receiving assistance from the Kinahans.
