Kind-hearted Blackburn Rovers employee giving 3,000 children a chance to watch their first football match
A scheme that supports children to watch their first football games has managed to bring 3,000 children to live matches since last season.
Yasi Sufi is the Integration and Development Manager at Blackburn Rovers and believes in the importance of engaging the large South-Asian community in Blackburn to attend Rovers games. Yasir told LancsLive: "There's a real need to tap into the community and get them involved with the club. "Lots of other kids have no one to bring them to a match and you know that when you watch your first live game, you get hooked. Kids are missing out on that and the opportunity to attend matches, whether that's because their parents can't afford to get there, to buy a ticket or simply have no interest."
After the Raise Your Game event, the attendees were treated to a Diwali lunch from 12-1pm. Yasir added: "The owners of Rovers are Hindu and it's about showing people in the community that we can celebrate their culture with them.
