King Charles' grandchildren call him 'Grandpa Wales', a sweet nickname inspired by his long tenure as Prince of Wales.

It is well-known that King Charles is a dedicated grandfather and spends as much time as possible with the youngest members of his family, despite his overwhelmingly busy schedule. There have been a number of times over the years that he has shared cute anecdotes about the youngsters or could be overheard organising plans to go and see them.

The King has five grandchildren: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis from his eldest son, Prince William, and Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet from Prince Harry. He is also the step-grandfather of Queen Camilla's five grandchildren, Lola and Freddie Parker-Bowles and Eliza, Gus and Louis Lopes. Behind the formality of royal life and away from the glaring media spotlight, the are just like any other family. They share jokes, buy each other ridiculous presents and even have silly nicknames for one another. While royal nicknames reportedly include everything from 'Cabbage' and 'Gary' to 'Tungsten' and 'Stavros', the most senior members of the Firm have also been given sweet pet names. For King Charles, it is said that his grandchildren, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, follow the same tradition that the late Queen started with her own grandfather, King George V. Much in the same way that the Queen knew him as 'Grandpa England' it is said that George, Charlotte and Louis call King Charles 'Grandpa Wales' owing to his 64-year tenure as Prince of Wales. Queen Camilla also revealed what the three young royals call her. According to The Sun, Camilla told the performer Lady Gaga that the Wales children call her 'GaGa' when they met following the Royal Variety Performance in 2016. The Queen had previously made the revelation shortly after the birth of Prince George in 2013. She told the Daily Mail: 'My own grandchildren call me GaGa. I don't know if it's because they think I am! It is funny but is still very sweet
