It's claimed the strained relationship between father and son has led Prince Harry to 'jump through hoops' to talk to King Charles.

King Charles is adopting a very "standoffish" approach designed to "subtly punish" his son, according to one royal expert.

It comes after Harry is said to have snubbed his father's invitation to stay with him in Balmoral last month to mark the first anniversary of the Queen's death. Now royal author Duncan Larcombe claims King Charles is sending a "subtle" message to his son. In Spare, Prince Harry's memoir, the royal laid bare his strained relations with members of the royal family that included unsavoury revelations about King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Catherine, the Princess of Wales.

Mr Larcombe told the publication: "It’s remarkable really, because when Charles became King he said he loved Harry and Meghan which was a huge olive branch - which Harry then took, snapped in half and then hit him with it... The King is still keeping those channels of communication open, where William isn’t."
