King Charles seen in first Christmas message as he makes change after Queen's death
The King has been pictured delivering his first Christmas message to the nation following the death of the Queen this year. The new monarch has made a change from the recent messages delivered by his late mother.
The monarch is pictured standing in the Quire in a blue suit with a Christmas tree behind him. The religious building may well have been chosen in tribute to his late mother. The monarch’s committal service was held at the place of worship and she was laid to rest in the George VI Memorial Chapel, within St George’s, with her husband the Duke of Edinburgh. The quire is where the royal family sat during the service.
The broadcast was produced by BBC Studios Events, ahead of ITV whose turn it was to record the King’s first festive address under a rotating producer system between the BBC, ITV and Sky News. A Buckingham Palace spokesman said the decision was taken as the BBC had “experience of shooting in St George’s Chapel this year”.
