A portrait of King Charles has been attacked by animal rights protesters in London who have sprayed a picture of Wallace from Wallace and Gromit over the top of the image
The campaigners from Animal Rising overlaid the portrait - a stunning oil painting of His Majesty donned in the Welsh Guards uniform - with an image of Wallace from the beloved Wallace and Gromit series.
In a statement, Animal Rising revealed that two members had entered the Philip Mould gallery around 12pm today before placing posters over the painting. The activists expressed their intention to highlight an investigation into 45 RSPCA Assured farms. Describing the incident as merely "lighthearted action", they mentioned it was a playful nod to the King's fondness for the Wallace and Gromit cartoons and his "status as Royal Patron of the RSPCA".Since 1840, the RSPCA has enjoyed Royal patronage. The first was Queen Victoria, who actually granted the Royal title to the organisation.
"Having a Royal Patron means that we're able to elevate the cause of animal welfare in the minds of the public and inspire more people to create a better world for every animal."
