King Charles met with Rishi Sunak during his weekly audience at Buckingham Palace The King has been pictured back at work for the first time since his cancer diagnosis. He shook hands with Rishi Sunak for their weekly audience together at Buckingham Palace.
Mr Sunak said: ‘Wonderful to see you looking so well.’ Charles joked: ‘It’s all done with mirrors.’ He said all the cards from wellwishers had ‘reduced him to tears’ and highlighted his admiration for cancer charities. Charles has stopped other public engagements while he undergoes his cancer treatment but continues on with his duties as head of state. This includes carrying out tasks still like dealing with government papers, the red box and signing documents. But he has stepped back from roles like meeting the public and attending events. Charles has previously been spotted heading to and from church in Sandringham and being driven out of Clarence House but this is the first time he has been pictured in a formal setting. He also attended the monthly meeting of the Privy Council which was held earlier this afternoon. This is a meeting with senior politicians from both the House of Commons and House of Lords.
