Prince Harry’s fleeting coronation visit is no sign that amends have been made
. His pet name – still used – for his younger son is “darling boy.” But the fact remains that the prolonged, public and bitter break-up of his parents’ marriage scarred Prince Harry for life. Add to that the trauma of Diana’s harrowing death when he was only 12, and the introduction of a stepmother,His struggles with his mental health are now well documented, but for years he refused to acknowledge them.
Harry was certainly questioning his life, his role and his future before Meghan Markle swept him off his feet. But would it all have gone so badly wrong without her? Would Harry still have found a way to spring himself free from the life he now views as a trap? We’ll never know. What seems clear, however, is that Meghan refused to be caged in the same way, and showed Prince Harry that there was an exit, if he dared.
