King Charles is expected to give an address to the nation today
The King and Queen Consort are expected to return to London after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. King Charles, formerly the Prince of Wales, will be returning to the capital today for an audience with the Prime Minister, Liz Truss.
King Charles is expected to give an address to the nation during the early evening on Friday, September 9, before he is formally proclaimed monarch at a historic Accession Council on Saturday. Charles and his wife Camila travelled to Balmoral, Scotland to be with the former Queen after doctors expressed concern for her health. Tributes across the country continue to be given following the sad news of her passing and crowds have gathered at royal estates across the UK.
Despite his grief, the meeting between the King and Prime Minister is expected to occur during at some point this afternoon. Followed by a televised address from the new King to the nation in the early evening.
