A breakdown of how to master alchemy in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, revealing the secret behind the bellows and their impact on potion brewing.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is overflowing with simulated medieval activities. You can hone your blades, forge horseshoes, gamble, do laundry, wash yourself in every trough across Czechia, and, of course, engage in alchemy. For those like me, the last one presents a particular challenge. In my 75 hours with KCD2, I consistently failed to produce anything stronger than a 'weak' potion, despite meticulously following recipes.
Even when I felt I was adhering to them perfectly, Henry would grumble about messing it all up upon completion. Perks that explicitly claimed to improve alchemy tolerance didn't offer any assistance. I began to suspect the joke was that alchemy wasn't meant to work, but I was apparently just inept. Or perhaps, the game simply fails to adequately explain how alchemy functions. I've finally cracked the code. I'm even managing to create strong Savior Schnapps from dried ingredients. The key lies in the game's bellows. Essentially, avoid using the bellows unless explicitly instructed to do so. Contrary to the alchemy tutorial's portrayal of bellows as a faster boiling method, they actually induce a distinct type of boiling. Many, like myself, likely tossed ingredients into the pot and vigorously bellows to hasten the boiling process, regardless of recipe specifications, only turning the hourglass when the mixture achieved a good bubbly state. However, the correct approach involves lowering the pot over the fire and patiently waiting for vapor to appear. Once vapor emerges (there's no need to wait for bubbles), turn your hourglass over. When it empties, that constitutes one turn. Maintain the boiling for the number of turns dictated by the recipe, and you'll achieve success.Recalling my 75 hours of producing subpar Savior Schnapps, I just crafted four strong ones using dried nettle and belladonna. The issue stems from the game's lack of clarity regarding the bellows' unique function. So long as you refrain from using them when unnecessary, alchemy becomes significantly more manageable.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: No Multiplayer, Just Medieval MayhemKingdom Come Deliverance 2 is a single-player RPG experience, as confirmed by the developers. The game will not feature any multiplayer or co-op modes, a decision that aligns with the original game and its lack of multiplayer functionality. Despite fan efforts to create mods for multiplayer, the complexity of the combat system makes it unlikely for any substantial multiplayer experiences to emerge. The focus remains on delivering a rich and immersive single-player narrative.
