There was no time for boring footwear last night , as the Broadway and West End sensation Kinky Boots struts into Manchester.
Charlie Price's Northampton shoe factory is on its uppers until he meets the norm-defying nightclub performer Lola and spots a gap in the market that could rescue his business. Johannes' dance moves are as impressive as you'd imagine and blissfully unhampered by the heels. His singing isn't half bad either, those unexpected bass tones adding power to Lola's persona, not to mention to her put-downs.
Costumes are a blingtastic blaze of colour and with the show's timeless themes of acceptance, courage and kindness, they're not the only things that light up the room.
