Kirkgunzeon Gala organisers defied Storm Betty to stage a hugely successful event in the Maxwell Memorial Hall on Saturday.
But in typical Kirkgunzeon fashion they made the brave decision to go ahead despite all the stallholders bar one pulling out because of the stormy conditions. Weather conditions improved and the dog show went ahead in the field beside the hall – much to the delight of all involved. She told the News at the event: “This is our third summer gala day and all proceeds will be spilt between Dumfriesshire and Cumbria Greyhound Rescue, Farmersfield Rest-home for Elderly Donkeys at Moniaive and the Maxwell Memorial Hall refurbishment fund.
