Considered underdogs heading into the Pacific Championships final, New Zealand stuns World Cup winners Australia with a 30-0 triumph in Hamilton.
A week after going down 36-18 to the Kangaroos in Melbourne, the underdog Kiwis rebounded in a dominant performance to score their first win over their trans-Tasman rivals since 2018.
They led 12-0 at half-time, courtesy of converted tries to Ronaldo Mulitalo and Jamayne Isaako, before finishing the job after the break. Isaako scored a second try in the 47th minute and finished the match with four conversions and a penalty goal, while Matthew Timoko and Griffin Neame also crossed the stripe for the Kiwis in the second half.
The Kangaroos were dealt a blow in the build-up to the match, with Cameron Murray a late withdrawal due to tendonitis.
