Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has referred to himself as the “last man standing” after Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers were sacked on Sunday.They were knocked out of the Champions League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup in poor fashion and they are currently eighth in the Premier League.This leaves them eight points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United.
When asked about these sackings, Klopp admitted that Liverpool’s past achievements have helped him keep his job this season.“Elephant in the room is why I am still sitting here in this crazy world. The last man standing . “They’re really good people, fantastic managers both of them, but still things can go the wrong way.”
“If this was my first season it would be slightly different. Yes, we have smart owners who know about the situation. Better ask them why that’s the case!”Liverpool come up against Chelsea on Tuesday night. Klopp is expecting their opponents to “show a reaction” to Potter’s exit.“We have not had a real session between our last game and tomorrow night. Today, from a recovery point of view, we cannot do intense stuff mentally and physically. It’s more talking.
