The Reds boss shared an update on the midfielder's fitness at his press conference on Friday
Jurgen Klopp has revealed he expects Thiago Alcantara to be out until the New Year as the Liverpool midfielder continues to battle a hip injury.
The Spaniard, who has not started for the Reds since February, underwent surgery back in April which ended his campaign. And despite briefly returning to team training earlier this year, has since suffered a couple of setbacks which have kept him sidelined. Offering an update on the 32-year-old, Klopp confirmed Thiago isn’t yet close to a return. And having no intention of rushing his return, the German revealed that the midfielder might not be ready to return until 2024.READ MORE: I was lucky to find Liverpool - now it's time to give back with groundbreaking new partnership
"Thiago is an ongoing thing. We cannot put any pressure in there as well.," said the Reds boss. "But we expect him to be back, I would probably say start of the New Year. "It's now already November. That would mean another four weeks, I would say that is probably realistic thing to try. I can't wait to have him back. The player is just exceptional. I understand why you ask but we can't have a week by week update because it will not change a lot in this moment."
