Belfast rap trio KNEECAP has been nominated for the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the Year 2024 for their debut album 'Fine Art'.
KNEECAP has been nominated for the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the Year 2024. The 20th annual awards celebrate the best in Irish recorded music and has become one of the music-industry highlights of the year since its inception in 2005. The Irish Album of the Year award is chosen from a shortlist of ten albums by a panel of eleven Irish music media professionals and industry experts.
The Belfast rap trio, made up of Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí, has been recognised for their debut studio album Fine Art which was released last summer. The full list of nominees are: The Irish Album of the Year 2024 will be announced live from Vicar St on RTÉ 2FM in a special show 7-11pm on Thursday 6th March. Dave Reid, Choice Music Prize co-founder, commented: “ The RTÉ Choice Music Prize continues to highlight, promote & support Irish music annually. We are delighted to be hosting the 20th edition of the project in 2025 and right now music across all genres in Ireland is in its healthiest state ever. 'We would like to thank all our partners and supporters down through the years as we strive to continue to shine a light on quality Irish music both domestically and internationally into the future ”. The winning Album of the Year act will receive €10,000, a prize fund which has been provided by The Irish Music Rights Organization (IMRO) and The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA). All shortlisted acts will receive a specially commissioned award. After the release of their semi-autobiographical film last year, KNEECAP have not been shy of awards recognition - winning ‘Best British Independent Film’ at BIFA Awards, receiving seven long-list nominations for the BAFTAs and two Oscars shortlist features.
