New York's summer roster retool continues with a new veteran addition.
The New York Knicks are signing free agent point guard Cameron Payne to a one-year, $3.1 million free agent contract, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.
The journeyman 29-year-old was most recently with the Philadelphia 76ers, having been shipped off to that club midway through the season from the Milwaukee Bucks, in exchange for former All-Defensive Team point guard Patrick Beverley.Payne split the 2023-24 season between the Bucks and Sixers, enjoying a bigger role with the latter club as Tyrese Maxey's primary backup. For the year, the 6-foot-3 vet notched averages of 7.4 points on a .432/.390/.866 slash line, 2.6 assists, 1.
