A Nottingham thief armed with a knife robbed a petrol station twice, stealing over £10,000 worth of cigarettes and tobacco products. The police identified the suspect through fingerprints and CCTV footage.
A knife-wielding Nottingham thief stole more than £10,000 worth of cigarettes and tobacco during two terrifying shop raids. Thomas Wade, 34, robbed the same petrol station on Carlton Road, Thorneywood, Nottingham , twice in a little over two weeks.
His distinctive facial features also matched a partial CCTV image recorded at the scene of his robberies, police said. Officers then discovered two knives at his home address that closely matched those used in the raids.He was also captured on CCTV footage, which showed him walking home with bags full of stolen items. Wade also left a fingerprint at the scene of a burglary in Lucknow Drive, Mapperley Park, in the early hours of May 20 last year.
Wade, of Gordon Road, Thorneywood, later pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery, two counts of possessing a knife in a public place, and burglary. Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court today on Thursday, April 11, he was jailed for a total of seven years and 11 months.
