Dylan Sewell, 23, from Coatbridge, was jailed for eight months after he fled from police officers while holding a knife to his throat in a retail park. He ran into Coatbridge Health Centre, discarding the blade in the corridor before being apprehended. Sewell admitted to carrying the knife without reasonable cause and has previous convictions for weapons offenses. His defense lawyer cited 'significant' mental health issues, stating that Sewell's condition had deteriorated during his time in custody.

A knifeman escaping from police officers ran into Coatbridge Health Centre before throwing the blade away.

He admitted to carrying a knife without reasonable cause at the health centre on November 18 while on bail for another matter. Annette Ward, prosecuting, said: "They received calls from members of the public regarding the accused being in Faraday Retail Park in possession of a knife."Police officers attended and saw the accused who matched the description they had been given.

He has been in custody since his arrest in November and Mr Manini added: "While being held at HMP Addiewell, his mental health has deteriorated completely. He has been bullied and slashed."
