Liverpool John Lennon Airport has many destinations to offer that you can start off your year visiting. Before we embark on 2025, we took a look on Skyscanner to see which destination had the cheapest return flights from Liverpool for the first weekend of the year. From Friday to Monday, we found the result was Knock, located in County Mayo in south Ireland. Only an hour long flight, the area has a lot to offer. At the time of writing, we found direct flights from Liverpool to Knock on Friday, January 3 at 7.30am and returning on Monday, January 6 at 2.25pm. You can out more below. What are the best attractions in Knock? There is so much to see and do in Knock. The Irish village is home to the Knock Shrine, one of the most interesting historical sites in the country. In 1879, the site was said to have seen the apparitions of the Virgin Mary, Joseph and John the Evangelist. Another well-known landmark is Ashford Castle - a medieval and Victorian castle which is now a five-star luxury hotel. Even if you're not a guest there, you can can tour the Ashford Estate or enjoy the likes of horse riding, falconry, golf and cycling. Another must-see attraction is Bertra beach. The Blue Flag site is a popular place visitors can do range of activities, from kite-surfing to bird-watching. If you enjoy the Irish countryside, Ballycroy National Park should also be on your to do list
