Robin Koch spent three years with Leeds United before leaving this summer on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt and the defender has praised his former head coach Marcelo Bielsa
Robin Koch has fond memories of his time with Leeds United working under 'special coach' Marcelo Bielsa. The Germany international was one of a host of first-team stars to depart Elland Road this summer in the wake of relegation.
Koch decided to join Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan, effectively bringing his time with the Whites to an end with his contract set to expire next summer. The 27-year-old has already made 13 appearances for his new club, with Dino Toppmoller's side currently sat seventh in the Bundesliga. Leeds signed Koch in the summer of 2020 after securing promotion to the Premier League. While the defender's three years with United ended in relegation with a succession of managers failing to stop the rot, he has not shied away from his praise or Bielsa.Koch told Kicker via Sport Witness : “It was a very nice, challenging and instructive time. In Marcelo Bielsa, I had a special coach at times. I’ve never seen a coach who works in such detail. I don’t know how many games he watches a week.
“He knows pretty much everything about football, which is unbelievable. We always knew exactly what to expect because he analysed everything. a world-class coach like Pep Guardiola.”
