Free agent Koen Casteels has reportedly been added to the list of goalkeepers in the mix to replace Celtic standout Joe Hart.
The 31-year-old has been a regular in the Bundesliga for a decade, firstly with Hoffenheim, before joining Wolfsburg in 2015. The towering keeper – standing at 6ft 6ins – was linked with a return home to Belgium with Anderlecht, however, their lack of guaranteed Champions League football could put paid to that.
And now the Daily Mail state Casteels is among the names in the frame to take over from Hart. The former England keeper has been a smash hit in Glasgow as he breathed new life into career by playing a pivotal role in Celtic securing three consecutive Premiership titles. Casteels insists his future hasn't been sorted but is set to be in demand as he heads to Euro 2024 with Belgium. Speaking to the Wolfsburg website, he said: "I don't have a new club yet. We've already held initial talks but it's not 100 per cent certain which club I'll be playing for next season."
"My son was born in Wolfsburg, so I'll always have that connection with the city and the club. When I look back on my career after my playing days are over, Wolfsburg will definitely be the club at which I spent the most time and which allowed me to transform from a youngster into an established Bundesliga goalkeeper."
