The 28-year-old was superb all afternoon, making seven clearances, off the line twice, making three blocks and winning all but three of the duels he contested.
Mavropanos is not the only player who will be heavily linked with a move away this summer if West Ham are relegated. El Hadji Malick Diouf and Crysencio Summerville enjoyed strong games on Sunday and will both have plenty of potential suitors. Mateus Fernandes could have secured West Ham three points when he went through on goal and saw his shot saved by Raya before Trossard’s goal at the other end, but he, too, is gathering interest.
Even captain Jarrod Bowen could be on the move this summer, with the England international surely far too good to spend a season of his prime years in the Championship. West Ham will keep hope in a miracle before the end of the season, but the situation could look extremely dire by Tuesday morning.
