The Kremlin has refuted reports that Asma al-Assad, wife of former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, is seeking a divorce and planning to return to the UK.
The Kremlin has denied reports that Asma al-Assad, the wife of deposed Syria n leader Bashar al-Assad, is seeking a divorce and considering a move back to the UK. Turkish media had suggested that Assad had been confined to Moscow with his property assets frozen. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov rejected these claims, stating they 'do not correspond to reality.
' Asma al-Assad, who was born and raised in west London, is reportedly unhappy with her living standards in Moscow and is seeking permission from a Russian court to leave. It is also believed she may want to seek cancer treatment in the UK. Russian authorities are considering her application. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Bashar al-Assad himself has been restricted to living in Moscow and banned from traveling to other parts of the country. His assets, including 270kg of gold, £1.6 billion, and 18 flats in Moscow, have also reportedly been frozen. The Kremlin denies these claims
