Severe Tropical Storm Kristine has intensified into a typhoon outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday afternoon.At 3 p.m., Kristine was located 905 km west of Bacnotan, La Union, with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 150 km/h, moving westward at 20 km/h. Kristine exited the PAR on Friday, but PAGASA said it may loop over the West Philippine Sea on Sunday.

"In its 24-hour weather forecast, PAGASA said the southwesterly windflow will bring rains over western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas in the next 24 hours.Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan will see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwesterly windflow.These moderate to at times heavy rains may cause flash floods or landslides.
