Reports are linking Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos with a move to Manchester City next summer where he could reunite with Pep Guardiola
Take Pep Guardiola, the all-conquering manager who currently has a total grip on English football. Clinching a fourth straight Premier League title, straight after an historic Treble, would be unprecedented of course, but his previous heroics at Barcelona and Bayern Munich had already given him divine status within the game.
Speaking three years ago, Kroos highlighted the impact the Spaniard had on how football was played. Much like in England, where even lower-league teams try to play out from the back or with inverted full-backs, Guardiola’s philosophies have left a lasting impression. “Because of the brilliance of his team’s football, the perception changed. Several outlets are claiming Kroos, now aged 33, is a City target at the end of the campaign. The German is out of contract next summer and the lure of playing in the Premier League - under Guardiola - could appeal.
