Kuwait Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Sunday held a meeting with Philippine Chargé d’Affaires Jose Cabrera III at his office to express his sympathies with the Philippine government and with Ranara’s family. He condemned the murder and vowed to have the 17-year old perpetrator punished for the incident, the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait added.Sheikh Salem said the actions of the perpetrator do not reflect the character and values of Kuwaiti society, the Kuwaiti people, and the Kuwaiti government.
He assured the Philippine embassy that the Kuwaiti government will provide all necessary assistance while it continues to monitor the case. Meanwhile, Cabrera, who was grateful for the Kuwaiti government’s swift response to the incident, told the minister that there is still no deployment ban on OFWs to Kuwait. During the meeting, they also discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and sought to have closer dialogues and engagements in the coming months.
