The defender knows the Jambos need to cut out the slopping defensive errors that have cost them dearly in the opening weeks of the season.
Kye Rowles admits it’s down to Hearts’ blundering stars to sort out their sorry start to the season – starting against Viktoria Plzen on Thursday night.
Ironically, a slow start to last season also saw league defeats to Dundee and Motherwell in the opening four games before the Jambos clicked into gear and finished third in the top flight by a country mile. And Rowles is hoping for a bit of a repeat. “The collective goals that we’ve conceded so far, it’s an error or two here and there. When we’re getting on top, we’re conceding at bad times at the moment. We know what we’ve got to do. We were shutting teams out last year and we’ve got to get back to that.
Naismith has been accused of chopping and changing tactics too much by brassed-off punters but Rowles insists the Tynecastle backline are comfortable enough switching from a back three to four. With Costa Rican Gerald Taylor still finding his feet at right back and Colombian left-back Andres Salazar enduring a debut to forget at Motherwell, Rowles knows time is against them to get it right.
