Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan rekindled their friendship while sifting through old photos and videos for her upcoming Netflix documentary, leading to nostalgic and emotional moments.

Kylie Minogue found herself on a nostalgic journey while working on her Netflix documentary, which brought her closer to her former flame Jason Donovan . The pair, who famously played onscreen lovers Charlene and Scott Robinson in the Australian soap opera Neighbours , also dated in real life for three years before parting ways in 1989.

Now, decades later, the 58-year-old singer revealed that sharing old videos and photographs from their past during the documentary's production strengthened their bond. In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Kylie confirmed that she and the 58-year-old actor are good mates these days, saying Yes, we are. She added that she had sent him some doozies while going through their shared history, jokingly telling him to start collecting items for his own documentary.

The documentary, simply titled Kylie, premiered on Netflix and includes intimate home video footage that even Kylie had forgotten about. Watching the film with her family led to emotional moments, especially when a clip of Scott and Charlene kissing appeared. Her nephew turned to her and remarked on the intensity of the kiss, which made her realize how much that on-screen romance meant to viewers.

The Locomotion hitmaker reflected on how their real-life romance blossomed after their characters on Neighbours fell in love. She explained that they fancied each other, and the love story in the show came first before it became a real thing. The documentary delves into the early days of their relationship, showing a young Kylie and Jason in candid moments.

In one clip, a fresh-faced Kylie is seen rolling around in bed giggling while Jason films her, a memory she had long forgotten. She told the publication that seeing that footage for the first time made her heart swell, saying they were just babies, and it brought back tidal waves of nostalgia, emotion, and a lot of love.

Jason Donovan attended the London premiere of the documentary in late September, and the two reunited warmly on the red carpet, smiling and posing together. Their friendship appears to have fully recovered from the strains of their past. The documentary also touches on the tensions that arose after Kylie launched her highly successful singing career in the late 1980s. Jason candidly admitted to feeling jealous of her success, which led to arguments between them.

He recalled that at the time, he had his own ego and wondered why similar success wasn't happening for him. While her music career took off, he felt she was moving away from acting, and his attitude reflected that struggle. He acknowledged that she really struggled with criticism, and he was unsupportive because of his own frustrations. The film captures these honest reflections, offering a rare glimpse into the complexities of their relationship.

Despite the challenges, the documentary portrays a sense of affection and mutual respect that has endured over the years. Kylie noted that working on the project was a cathartic experience, and reconnecting with Jason through the footage was a highlight. The documentary is a celebration of her life and career, but also a personal journey that allowed her to revisit cherished memories with a former partner who remains an important part of her story
