LAPD officers rescued a baby who was allegedly kidnapped in the San Fernando Valley. Investigators said the baby's parents were on a smoke break when they left their vehicle unattended.
A 6-month-old baby who was allegedly kidnapped was rescued in the San Fernando Valley over the weekend. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call near the intersection of Oakdale Avenue and Chase Street in the Winnetka neighborhood just after 2:45 p.m. Sunday regarding a vehicle that had been stolen with a child inside.
Later in the investigation, authorities discovered the child’s mother and father left the child unattended for about 10–15 minutes to take a smoke break when the suspect managed to drive away with the baby inside. About an hour and a half later, a witness located the child inside the stolen vehicle in the 8300 block of Oso Avenue and contacted authorities. The baby was taken to an area hospital where he was treated for dehydration.
