A Greater Manchester MP has apologised after he was sacked as a minister for 'badly misjudged' comments he allegedly made on a WhatsApp group.

In a statement on X, Mr Gwynne said: "I deeply regret my badly misjudged comments and apologise for any offense I’ve caused. I’ve served the Labour Party all my life and it was a huge honour to be appointed a minister by Keir Starmer. In the report, the paper claims that the MP received a letter from a 72-year-old woman from Stockport who was raising an issue about bin collections. It is claimed that Mr Gwynne then shared the letter in a WhatsApp group, with a comment in which he allegedly said he hoped the woman would die before the next election.A Labour spokesperson told the M.E.N.
