The Labour Party is under pressure to reverse its stance on compensation for WASPI women following the resurfacing of a video of Yvette Cooper advocating for their rights.

A significant update has been issued regarding the WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality) campaign, as pressure mounts on the Labour Party to reverse its stance over compensation worth £2,950 from the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ). The Labour Party is facing backlash following the resurfacing of a video featuring Yvette Cooper , MP for Pontefract, Castleford, and Knottingley, in which she advocates for women to be compensated for past DWP injustices.

I've long argued that the way the Tories increased women's state pension age was completely unfair, moving the goalposts for women in their 50s and 60s when it was too late to plan. That's why I signed the WASPI pledge and why I'll keep up our fight for a better deal for WASPI women.' Lee Anderson, the Reform UK MP for Ashfield, posted on X and said: 'She said this. With a straight face.' The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) apologised for a nearly two-and-a-half-year delay in informing women about state pension age changes. A spokesperson said: 'However, evidence showed only one in four people remember reading and receiving letters that they weren't expecting and that by 2006 90% of 1950s-born women knew that the State Pension age was changing. Earlier letters wouldn't have affected this
